The second step of one handed backhand progresions
is to start with your tennis rocket all the way back and your body sideways.
So here I am in the body position that you wanna be in and I have got the rocket pointed the back fence
and I got both hands on the tennis rocket.
Now when I start my swing, I am gonna let go with my non dominant hand, my right hand
and I am gonna keep my non dominant arm back, because thats gonna keep my shoulders sideways.
You can see when I follow through my right arm, because i am left handed, my non dominant arm is staying back.
and that keeps my boby and my shoulders sideways in to my follow through.
Also if we rewind it to the starting position,
when I swing i get my back heel up and that allows me to transfer my weight in to my one handed backhand when I swing and hit.
Starting in the rocket back position I am gonna hit some tennis balls.
When I am in rocket back position, I get my body sideways, I have both hand on my tennis rocket,
and when I swing, I simply gonna let go with my other hand, my non dominant hand, my right hand since I am left handed.
and the rocket my arm swing arround as a piece, to contact
and then I follow through using the same mechanics, we have worked on in the previous video.
Also what you gonna see, when I am in the rocket back position
I transfer my weight forward on my front foot, my back heel comes up
and again that’s gonna get my weight moving in to the court when I hit
and finally when I gonna let go of the tennis rocket with my other hand, I keep it back
and what that does, it helps me hold my shoulders sideways when I swing
You can see when I swing forward and hit,
my shoulders are pretty sideways. I don’t up a little bit until well in to my follow through
and again the other arm its gonna help you do that, by keeping it back you won’t open up as much.
Let’s quickly clip to the back view and watch the mechanics from this perspective.
I have got the rocket back, again both hands on the tennis rocket
I let go, swing to the tennis ball and my rocket and my arm move as one piece.
I keep that relationship the same,
my other arm stays back, that holds my shoulders sideways.
And my back heel comes up as I transfer my weight in to the one handed backhand.
