The third step of two handed backhand is the swing forward with contact.
Having got my tennis rocket all the way back. I am ready to swing forward to my contact point, but before I talk about exactly how you do that I wanna make a brief point, If you look at my feet they haven’t move since I pivot it and turned my shoulders and from this position I am in here, I could swing forward and hit the tennis ball.
Or just before I swing, I can step into the court with my inside foot like I am doing here. Now whether or not you take the step just depends on the situation. Pros would do both over the curse of the match, but in my opinion its better to take the step when you learning how to hit two handed backhand makes the shot easyer so I recomend you take the step like I am doing here.
First I have to push off my outside leg, my right leg since I am lefty and get my heel up, and getting my heel up its gonna help with the second step which is to rotate my upper body back towards the net.
If we go back to my prepared position, the third step is to drop the tennis rocket down and then swing it forward to my contact point and if we play it one more time it looks like my rocket is tracing out a sea as it drops down and swing forward.
From the front view we see how it looks like from this angle. Again I push off my outside foot, I get my heel up, that’s allows me to rotate my upper body back towards the net and my rocket drops down and swings forward to my contact point, out in front of my body about waist high and if I were make contact with the tennis ball, the strings would be flat on the back of the ball.
Now that Franks got his tennis rocket all the way back and his shoulders all the way sideways, he is ready to swing for, to do, his contact point by doing those three things I just talked about.
He pushes off his outside foot, his left foot in this case since he is righty, he gets his heel up, which helps him to rotate his upper body towards the net and then if we rewind it. The rocket drops down and then swings forward again, it looks kind of like he is tracing a sea with his tennis rocket and he gets to his contact point which is about waist high and a little bit out in front of his body.
Let’s now click to the top view and see what it looks like from this perspective.
From his prepared position, he pushes off his left foot, the heel comes up, the upper body rotates back towards the net and the rocket drops down. You can’t really see it from this angle, but you can see swing forward and gets to his contact point, which is out in front of his body, maybe in line with his front foot.
We gonna start with her feet and her upper body first. And right here again she is in her prepared position and she is gonna push off her left outside foot since she is a righty, the heel comes up and the same time her upper body rotates back towards the net. So her heel is off the ground and she is rotated back at contact.
