The seventh part of the serve is the leg push.
It's part of getting to the proper racket drop.
We separated this video from the previous one
to make getting to the racket drop easier to learn.
Now, here I am in my trophy pose
and again, to reiterate, my knees are fully bent,
and I've got the weight equally distributed on each foot
on the balls of each foot,
I'm gonna push off my legs up and into the court
What you'll notice and this is critical
is that my legs are gonna be fully pushed off
right here they are totally straight, I might be on my tippy toes here
at the same instant the racket is dropped straight down behind my back
So let's watch that one more time
From the trophy pose I time it so that the racket is pointed straight down at the court
and my legs are fully pushed off and this body position I'm in right now
that is what is commonly referred to as the racket drop.
Behind me we've got a picture of Andy Roddick in his racket drop
He has fully pushed off his legs, his legs are totally straight
the racket is pointed straight down behind his back
his shoulders are lever and his body is sideways
and he's dropped his tossing arm down
This body position that Andy's in right now, the racket drop,
is something that every single good server gets to.
doesn't matter if it's Andy Roddick, Serena Williams, Venice Williams
whoever, they all get into this exact body position
and that's despite the fact that pros sometimes have difference
in terms of how they prepare, how they wind up during their serve.
So, what we're gonna do is we're gonna start with Andy here
we're gonna rotate through some other pictures of pros in the racket drop
and you'll see that their body position with the legs fully pushed off, racket behind the back
shoulders level, body sideways and tossing arm having fallen down
everybody wil be in this body position
So, I"m just gonna fade out and we'll just cycle through some of those pros
See you.
