The first difference between the slice serve and the flat serve is the location of the toss.
The mechanics of the toss are the same, hold the ball with your fingers etc.
If you are a little hazy on these details I suggest that you review the fundamental section of the serve.
But the difference is the location of the toss.
What you trying to do is put the toss a little bit further to the side, not much just a little bit.
So you can swing across the ball as supposed to throw it.
So what that means for a lefty such as my self.
I am gonna put the ball a little bit further to my left and for all of you rightys out there the toss is gonna be a little bit further to your right.
Behind me we have got mmy flat serve and my slice serve, split screen, and if we play these two clips what you notice is that I placed my toss a little further to my left on my slice serve.
So if we freeze these two serves at contact what you will notice is that I am making contact on my slice serve further to my left then I am on my flat serve.
Distance in to the court that I tossed the ball is pretty much the same, bacause again you do go after your slice serve, but you need to put it a little bit further to the left.
So you can come across it and generate that side spin.
